Women Community Center
The Women Community Centre consists of retail spaces, F&B's, lecture rooms, gym, restaurant, health and fitness spaces, nursery, kids play area, e-library and outdoor landscaping. The architectural character of the building revives the space used by Emirati women for traditional handicrafts. Inspired by the palm-made hut and its materials, the building design is an effort to keep an age-old craft alive, but in a contemporary way. The building facade details and aesthetic elements capture the innate creativity of Emiratis which was clear in their wide and varied repertoire of traditional handicrafts.
Burqa is a very important piece of Khaleej folklore dress as women wear it over their faces. And it resembles like mask to hide women’s face whilst showing pride and modesty. Furthermore, burqa has been worn for embellishment purposes. Its form and color were used on the exterior facades of the building as a traditional decorative element and as a shading element as well.
The Women Community Center will serve the day to day needs of the residents. It will create exclusive opportunities for local women’s activities in the immediate surrounding area, within the walking distance. Adjacent to the Women Community Centre, is a Health Care Centre that will be provided along with retail spaces, a mosque, a school and a park.
