Al Aflaj Bridges
In the growing demands for pedestrians and road safety, Al Ain has transformed its roundabouts into signalized junctions. Together with Al Ain Municipality’s initiative, footbridges are mainly incorporated into the physical & public realm. This initiative aims to provide more effective ways for pedestrian circulation within the city. These footbridges will be built on selected portions of the city.
The Al Aflaj bridges are designed to provide ease and comfort for the crossing pedestrians. These also reduce fatal accidents and provides safety to the motorists as well. Two options were prepared by AVA for the bridges’ façade, mainly the curved and the flat one. It is also designed for cross-ventilation since it is composed mainly of modern mashrabiya-like patterns approached with subtle color that is natural to its environment.
