Meydan Pop-up
Meydan Pop-Up is composed of architectural shipping containers that is located 5.25 Km, south of Dubai’s Most famous landmark and the world’s tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa. It is also located 2.0 Km, North-east of Meydan Race course, another Landmark for Dubai’s biggest Horse Racing and Equestrian events. On its South, 10.80 Km, the Arabian Ranches while Mall of the Emirates can be found 9.10 Km of its West. The design is a combination of containers that are intended for bicycle storage and F&B’s.
The pop-up park invites and stimulates city dwellers to participate in the project by pedaling through the city themselves. It is an active place for casual recreation, mainly for cycling. It is a place to socialize, and relax. There is a playful use of bold colors and graphics on the ground plane to distinguish the active hard zones from passive soft zones. In terms of sustainability, the foundation of shipping container architecture is the repurposing of existing material, it is, by nature, a sustainable alternative.
